Why is motivation so important to me? I have struggled with getting and/or staying motivated most of my life. I could usually start a school assignment, work project, or friendship, but would inevitably run out of steam. I couldn’t keep myself engaged. This would lead to incomplete or half-assed school work, abandoned projects, or the death of relationships due to neglect. I saw other people getting things done, staying on task, and completing their goals. I wanted/needed this for myself.
I started reading books on focus, motivation, organization, abundance mindset, and follow through. During this time I noticed that many of my teen and adult patients were struggling with motivation and it amplified my desire to change. I needed to improve in all those areas so I could help others do the same.
Today I can conceptualize a goal, start it, and finish it with clarity. I still get slowed down by my internal resistance to doing things that feel uncomfortable. Now I have tools to work through my resistance and although it’s usually not easy for me, I have learned how to make it happen with great success. And this is what I would like to pass onto you. I want to help you reveal your new found motivation or the motivation that was lost. Let’s get started.
